Behind the Concept

 Who am I?

Alright, clearly I don't work on a flying airship in a fantasy world (as awesomesauce as that would be!)

My name is Kay and I'm 26. I enjoy creating new things, whether those things are stories, drawings, pieces of jewellery or something else! I've always enjoyed having creative outlets, despite doing well in subjects like maths and science my heart was always in more artistic places.

I've expressed myself in many ways over the years but I have also battled with anxiety and depression. My latest battle has been one of the hardest, too anxious to go outside for years it was only through the support of my loving husband that I'm pulling through the other side. Getting my life on track after years trying to avoid it is hard and I'm sure there will be stumbles along the way but I'll keep trying! As part of my trying I set up 'Little Kamakura' in September 2011.

What is Little Kamakura?

Kamakura is a period in Japanese history, but is also a country in The Maelstrom (a LARP run by Profound Decisions) setting. It was at this LARP that I created Suki, a mechanist who found work at an IC teahouse The Bittermoon. She had plans to one day build an airship for the Bittermoon to have some safety as their world started to end. It was from her and the fun I had with the other players of Bittermoon staff (thank you all so so much! I'd list you all here, but you know, trying to cut back on babble!) that Little Kamakura was born.

Little Kamakura mostly draws inspiration from The Orient, fantasy settings and a little steampunk flair but sometimes I have a random moment and something unrelated to concept slips in. Fail me!
